medicine & Public Health

The Indigenous Health Gap

Through a combination of literature review and qualitative research, RFH will be producing a policy brief to improve quality of healthcare for Status Indians in Canada.

Gun Violence & Policing

Roots of Gang Violence in Youth and Alternatives to Policing

Contrary to popular belief, policing has not reduced crime in low-income or previously oppressed communities. RFH will be investigating to what extent crime is rooted in socioeconomic status and settler colonialism in Canada.

CLIMATE CRISIS & NEOCOLONIALISM

Investigating Canada’s Role in Neocolonialism and the Climate Crisis

The connection between Canada’s role in neocolonialism and our role in the climate crisis is not well understood. RFH will be investigating Canada’s role in financing development projects in the Global South, as well as potential courses of action to transition into renewable energy sources here in Canada.

Mental Health CRISIS.

There is a mental health crisis ongoing in Canada. To illustrate the issue and push for change, RFH will be investigating the prevalence of su*cide amongst post-secondary students in Canada, as well as the treatment of those with mental illness in our criminal justice system.

Education POLICY.

RFH will be investigating to what extent systemic racism exists in Canadian schools, as well as synthesizing information on physical and sexual assault in schools.
