Research for humanity
Institute.
We’re an independent academic research group focused on decolonizing and disseminating knowledge to foster systemic change in Canada.
100% grassroots. Non-partisan.
The Research for Humanity (RFH) Institute was founded on July 24th, 2020 in Toronto, Ontario.
We believe that grassroots organizations deserve the same access to research and knowledge as state institutions. RFH seeks to provide high-quality research for local non-profit, small business & activist organizations at zero cost.
Through publishing policy briefs, as well as sharing knowledge on our @HumanityLearns Instagram and Twitter channels, we hope that our work will change public discourse surrounding hyper-inequality, the climate emergency, neocolonialism, racism and more.

MEdicine and Public health.
RFH focuses on structural inequality in the Canadian healthcare system, specifically the role of settler colonial racism in Black and Indigenous access to healthcare, as well as the effects of socioeconomic barriers.
Canada’s Role in Neocolonialism.
RFH will be investigating Canada’s role in neocolonialism of the Global South, with a focus on the Caribbean. We will also be investigating how neocolonialism persists in the ongoing oppression of Indigenous peoples in Canada today.
The Mental Health crisis.
In a partnership with Peace of Mind Canada and the Justice for Soleiman Faqiri Campaign, we will be investigating the prevalence of suicide at post-secondary institutions in Canada, as well as the intersections of mental illness and poor treatment in the criminal justice system.
Gun violence and policing.
To further the discussion surrounding the #DefundthePolice movement and to question policing in non-partisan and progressive manner, RFH will be examining to what extent the roots of crime in Canada are socioeconomic.
Education policy.
To support the advocacy work of Black parents in Peel and York regions, as well as that of the Latinx community, Muslim community and Indigenous community, we will be investigating the need to decolonize curriculum in schools, as well as address racism, Islamophobia, anti-semitism and more.
The Climate Emergency.
Canada plays a leading role in the climate emergency. We will be investigating the linkages between neocolonialism and the climate crisis in Canada, specifically.
Additional topics to be explored will be Migrant Rights in Canada, the Food Apartheid, the Criminalization of Homelessness and Gentrification.
Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.
